Dragon’s Den Audition Pitch

Dragon's Den LogoToday the Delta Hotel and Conference Centre in Guelph hosted Dragon’s Den Auditions for their upcoming season. I attended on behalf of our business with hopes to pitch to the producers of the show for investment in the next big leap forward for our business.

**Spoiler alert**

I won’t be sharing what I pitched for our new idea, sorry, just not the time… yet!

Like many Canadians, I have spent years watching seasons of Dragon’s Den. Seeing dragons come and go – and with a curious eye, loved the entrepreneur’s ideas, creativity, passion and surprising big dollars they had requested and invested in their company. As a Guelph business owner, I jumped at the opportunity to attend the audition, considering they made the special effort to come to this city, I should make the effort to join in the fun!

I have loved reading follow up stories, and seeing recap shows of where the investments went. I have purchased books written by dragons and sought out products to buy in stores from entrepreneurs and investors alike.

Food businesses and entrepreneurs with food products have mixed success on the show. Qualitatively, I can remember many memorable pitches I’ve seen where food business people receive investment for their next phase of growth. With our small business growing from a humble operation in October 2010 to now, I hope I demonstrated what makes Sweet Temptations Cupcakery unique and poised to scale.

I am thrilled about taking our business to the next step, and looking forward to seeing the new season of the show. Most importantly I can’t wait to share news – if we make it on to the next round.

Looking for a Dragon’s Den Audition tip? Be authentic, be prepared, pack a lunch, and clear your schedule, you could be there all day.

Fingers crossed for Sweet Temptations Cupcakery!

    Hey,

Thanks for sharing. How much time did you have for your pitch?

Hi, Thanks so much – there appeared to be no precise time limit, I would say I was in the room with the producers for 6-8 minutes. As I waited for my turn throughout the day, business owners seemed to be in the room anytime between 4-5 minutes through 15-17 minutes, some maybe as much as 20 minutes. Good luck! Connect with me on Twitter or Instagram if you have more questions – I’d be happy to try and help @Sweet_T_Cakes
