Guelph Mercury Covers our Cupcakes

This week I had the pleasure of being interviewed for a business feature article profiling me and Sweet Temptations Cupcakery in the Guelph Mercury.

You can read the article here: Aberfoyle baker joins ‘cupcakery’ trend

As a young entrepreneur this was a huge surprise for me and was a real honour. I was thrilled to have been contacted to be covered in our city’s most read local paper. The article appeared online yesterday afternoon (Tuesday, April 9, 2013) and in print today (Wednesday, April 10, 2013). guelph mercury photo

Yes – what you’re thinking is true – I am going to buy five copies for my mother! Maybe not five, but certainly I’ll be getting a copy for myself and at least one for my Mum! The article not only covers Sweet Temptations Cupcakery and its evolution as my small business, it covers me – Jakki – pretty comprehensively about my life. Growing up in Oakville with my family, when I began baking, why I love it and where my passion has taken me.

Reading this article and seeing the responses from family, friends, neighbours and my online peers has further highlighted for me the connection I have with the community here in Guelph and Wellington Region. People have expressed such happiness for me, and have really helped spread the article in their circles. As I connect with more and more people at the Guelph Farmers’ Market and through community events in the city, I feel touched to have such a broad local support and acceptance. It is a wonderful feeling to know that I have ‘baked out a niche’ for Aberfoyle and Guelph, where I call home for myself and my business.

It has been a goal of mine since laying the foundation for Sweet Temptations Cupcakery that I develop the business and work to grow it further. With this recent media coverage, I feel the awareness of my business is actually spreading throughout Guelph. I hope this article makes it’s way to the desk of someone who thinks – “Why yes, I would love to have Sweet Temptations Cupcakery cater my daughter’s wedding, or my corporate picnic this summer”. This year 2013 has been a busy year to date for me; I have been working hard to solidify my business plan and I can’t wait to see what more there is to unfold.

A very warm thank you to

Troy Bridgeman, Special to the Mercury

You – Guelph community members for being so welcoming to me and my business
