Wedding Cupcakes and My Honeymoon Vacation

I am thrilled to announce that this past weekend we had our wedding and I married my best friend. Jamie and I said I do in Cambridge, before a small group of immediate family and close friends on Friday, September 28, 2012. It was a fantastic day and we truly are so happy to have taken this next step together in our life’s journey. We left the next day for our dream honeymoon, as we travelled to Dubai for a two (became three) day stopover, and then on to the Seychelles. I will be sure to post pictures on Facebook and here once I have some, as I know many folks are eager to see them (so am I!).

Our colour theme was autumnal without being the standard -orange, red and yellow- we chose copper and sunflower yellow, and there were little hints of those colours all throughout our venue. As we both love travelling, we had a travel themed wedding, that included centrepiece photographs of us in some of our favourite cities around the world. Our Maids of Honour wore copper coloured dresses and our Best Men looked handsome in black suits with copper ties.

Yes – I did bake my own wedding cupcakes! How did I manage to bake for my own wedding? Easy, we had 75 guests, and really that was just two half batches (two flavours) for me. We decided to go with strawberry infused champagne flavoured cupcakes – and I will post pictures and recipes when I return home. Our wedding cupcake tower was served with the latenight buffet and not as a part of our dinner menu. We served our guests sorbet at the end of the meal, to make sure they weren’t loaded down before the dancing started. Another fun treat we offered at the reception is popcorn. We are huge movie fans, and love theatre popcorn, so we brought our commercial popcorn machine and had a friend pop it up all night – little bags stamped with copper sunflowers for guests to fill and enjoy while they danced and drank the night away. I will be sure to blog about the little details and photos of things we did special for the day later in October.

Back to business – I wanted to relay that I am taking a short break from the biz while we are on our honeymoon, but our sweet cupcakes will still be available. Left in the capable hands of friends of mine – the Guelph and Aberfoyle Farmers’ Market will be open with our cupcakes on Thanksgiving weekend, October 6 – as usual, and we will have assorted autumn flavoured cupcakes available in half and whole dozens, as well as four packs and individuals as always.

While I am away, I will have no access to my voicemail, and very limited email access. If you need a custom order between now and October 15, my apologies, but I am away and will not be able to complete it. If you want to discuss an order for the weeks following the 15th of October, please do send me an email, and I will return it promptly upon my return – and we can go from there. I will resume my weekly markets with no interruptions right through to the end of the Aberfoyle Farmers’ Market season – last market day is October 27, 2012. Our booth will be at Guelph Farmers’ Market Wednesdays through the end of the pilot project, October 31, 2012 and every Saturday ongoing until the new year and beyond!

Looking ahead, in the evening of Thursday, November 8 – mark your calendars – I will be providing more details later – but let’s just say there is a free cupcake event coming to downtown Guelph, and you’re invited to come and try them all! Like our page on Facebook – Sweet Temptations Cupcakery, for immediate update on what is sure to be an awesome, free cupcake soiree. Also, follow me on Twitter, Sweet_T_Cakes, for details and info on the event.
